Update from the SDMA

Update from the SDMA
Posted on 02/07/2019

Hello SDMA Families, Staff, and Stakeholders.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the school district continues to deal with the inclement winter weather that has caused so many interruptions to the operations of our schools. A make-up plan will be discussed with the school board on Monday and shared with families next week. We are anticipating that two days of school will need to be made up with students on Monday, April 22 and Friday, June 7, and it is likely that the school day will be extended by a few minutes for the rest of the year starting on Monday, February 18.

Despite missing several days of school the past two weeks, much work has continued in the SDMA. As you might already know, the School District of the Menomonie Area is developing a Strategic Plan to guide the work of the district over the next several years. You are a vital part of our school community, so we are reaching out to you to request some additional input for this strategic plan. The work we do is important in creating a path to success for each and every student.

Over the past six months, we have listened to stakeholder feedback in over 40 focus group sessions and through an initial strategic planning survey that garnered well over 1000 responses. Our Steering Committee has synthesized much of this feedback and is now beginning the final stages of crafting the plan. We look to have the plan approved by the Board of Education and in place for the 2019-2020 school year.

For this next and very important step in the process, we need your input once again and ask you to provide feedback on six key questions. Please take a few moments to offer your thoughts by using the following survey link: School District of the Menomonie Area – Strategic Plan Feedback Survey .

The survey window will remain open through February 22, 2018.

Your time is valuable, so we are focusing in with only six key questions. We appreciate you taking time to respond, and we pledge to consider all feedback when finalizing the plan.

Thank you for supporting our strategic planning process and the School District of the Menomonie Area.

Sincerely,

Joe Zydowsky
