SDMA Weekly COVID Update - 9/2/2020
Posted on 09/02/2020

Hello SDMA Families and Staff.

This is the type of message that you can expect to receive from me each week when the new COVID-19 numbers come out on Wednesdays.............

The data listed on the Dunn County Dashboard was updated today. You can see that there are now 179 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Dunn County (up from 159 last week) and 6,718 negative test results (up from 6,447 last week). There were 32 newly confirmed cases in the past two weeks (up from 28 last week) which still results in a MODERATELY HIGH burden of 71 new cases per 100,000 people in Dunn County (up from 63 last week). The trend for the past two weeks in Dunn County is still level ( <-->). More information about COVID measurements and levels are on the Department of Health Services website.

This data report will result in the SDMA continuing with the In-Person Learning Environment as noted on the 2020-2021 SDMA Instructional Model Graphic where all grade levels are allowed to have in-person instruction with full enrollment. If the BURDEN level in Dunn County increases to HIGH and the TREND level was increasing, additional mitigation measures (like moving to the Blended Learning Environment) would probably be necessary.

This week's message also contains a sample letter for what might be sent out if a student in the SDMA tests positive for COVID-19. While we hope not to send many of these letters, we are prepared to keep families and staff informed.

Thank you to everyone in our community doing their best to stop the spread of COVID. As encouraged by the Dunn County Community Recovery Team, and especially with Stout students returning and Labor Day Weekend coming up, please do what you can to Wash Up, Back Up, and Mask Up.

Thank you.

Joe Zydowsky
