4-year-old kindergarten (4K) is currently offered at 6 sites in our community to all children living in the Menomonie School District who turn four years old on or before September 1st. The program is offered in a half-day format; morning or afternoon, (program hours vary by location and bus transportation) at area partnering sites. There is no cost or registration fee associated with our 4K program. However, there may be some school supplies and snacks that you will be asked to provide.

The community-based approach includes 4K centers that are in partnering childcare and preschool facilities. Currently, there are six sites partnering with our district and include:

  • Menomonie CESA 11 Head Start
  • Milestones Early Educational Community
  • SDMA-River Heights location
  • SDMA-Wakanda location
  • St. Joseph's School
  • UW-Stout Child and Family Study Center

Each site has one or more teachers licensed in Early Childhood by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction. They help to build children's social and emotional skills, direct children's learning through facilitated play, helping them to acquire knowledge in content areas such as literacy, math, science, the arts and technology. Instruction focuses on ways that preschool children learn best.
